First Lucid Dream!

After five attempts, last night I tried a second attempt with a certain induction technique and it seemed to have paid off. I tried to use some sort of subliminal messaging to tell my sub-concious to lucid dream.

I am getting into the habit of doing WBTB (Wake Back to Bed) at around 3:30-4:30am which is great because it gives me instant dream recall of prior dreams. Last night I dreamed about playing basketball in a laboratory and it was very vivid. All of a sudden I realized some odd dream signs, so I did a reality check and sure enough I realized I was dreaming. Just because I was aware did not seem to give me full control however.. I didn't get to "do whatever I wanted" at this point yet. I think it may be because I wasn't lucid enough or because it was the tail end of the dream. I'd say about 2 min of dream time after I became lucid it was over. I messed with 3 dream characters and forced someone to get away from me. It was very unreal because my senses were there, but not at the same time. I hope I can get another lucid dream tonight, I think they key is simply perseverence.

Once I am done with my vacation on the 12th I am going to begin training again for Astral Projection.

Mastering Astral Projection - CD Companion Start

I just acquired the CD Companion version of "Mastering Astral Projection" by Robert Bruce and I am very excited to start. I'm going to be solely using the CD and referring back to the book if I need to. I'll also be doing some with the Gateway Experience learning more and more.

The small breakthrough I had was when I was feeling a huge amount of stress on my inner body (non-physical) while meditating and getting into a deep trance.

Once my headphones come on Friday I'll start trying to induce lucid dreams at night, especially Friday night :)

Continuing on the slow self-improving journey...

Still in Discovery

I've been working on the Discovery exercises in Wave I from the Gateway Experience and have been getting deeper and deeper into trance states. However, I can't really do the Exercise 5 well with my large headphones. I have ordered headphones called "SleepPhones". These headphones can be used during sleeping so it should help me with lucid dreaming and exercises in the Waves that require sleep or natural sleep.

Will keep this updated once I get the new headphones, I'll then be restarting the 90 day journey as I should have the CD companion by then.

Mastering Astral Projection - Postponed

I am postponing my 90 day journey because if two reasons:

1) Doing both the 90 day journey and the Gateway Experience/Journeys Out of the Body exercises is too strenous
2) There is a "Mastering Astral Projection CD Companion" now available that I would like to use during the 90 day journey.

With that being said, I'll report daily on how my Gateway Experience is going. Then I'll report on my Journeys Out of the Body exercises. Once those are complete, I'll probably get the CD Companion and work on the 90 day journey again.

Regardless, I'm hoping to be able to create an OBE experience before 2011 (high hopes). Or at the very least, lucid dream induction as a side effect.

Lastly, I am now working on Wave 1 - Discovery, Exercise 3 which is Advanced Focus 10. I actually really like Focus 10 because I lose track of where I am physically and can visualize and remember a lot of childhood experiences that I've thought that I have since forgotten. Also, my senses seemed strengthened right after achieving Focus 10 which makes me feel great :)

Days 4 + 5 of 90

Nothing really new in these days, I feel like I am getting more out of the Gateway Experience CD's but I will not give up.

Learning the energy body stimulation is pretty good though. I'm able to make my toes and feet tingle by using my body awareness. I need more practice in this though. I get to learn body bouncing pretty soon, so I'll update more with that.

I recorded a lake-type dream last night which was probably my best feedback so far.

Day 3 of 90

Tonight I did my Day 3 tasks. They include:

1) Optional, listen to BrainWave (20 minutes, I did 5 minutes and became relaxed)
2) Relaxation - Legs, Stomach, Chest, Back (5 minutes)
3) Breath work - Breath awareness (5 minutes)
4) Energy Body Stimulation (5 minutes)

2 - This exercise is very easy, basically just stressing out each portion of my body for 5 seconds, then relaxing for say 10 seconds. This helps you key on the relaxation aspect and can help you relax specific parts of your body quicker. I found that the chest/back portion was tougher to stress comfortably, but it felt more relaxed than the legs and stomach.

3 - This task had me concentrate on my breathing for 5 minutes and also clearing out my mind as thoughts come in. Simply completely focus on breathing in and out. I added some resonant breathing as I find it more spiritual and relaxing if I hum at the end of my breath.

4 - This is where the true workout was today. This exercise taught me split body awareness in stimulating energy chakras in my big toes and thumbs. Basically you picture a sponging or brushing sensation on both your big toes, or big thumbs simultaneously. I find it interesting, because my left body parts are more sensitive or stimulate a lot easier than my right body parts. I was able to stimulate my left big toe, and left thumb with complete ease. I found this exercise very easy and rewarding... and it's easy to do in your down time when you can close your eyes.

Tonight I am going to again listen to the Wave I - Orientation portion before I go to bed and enter Focus 3. I tried the Wave I - Focus 10 portion, but I had many distractions and didn't get as much out of it as I wanted. I'm going to do the orientation section until I know I can be undisturbed and have complete silence, which is probably not going to happen until Saturday/Sunday night (Day 7 and Day 8).

No dreams were successfully recalled last night due to me being over tired and actually consciously not wanting to write down my dream key words. I remember that I remembered dreams last night, I just chose not to write them down. Hopefully I can stop being stubborn :(

Day 2 of 90

Today I was tasked with the following:

1) Optional listening again to the BrainWave (20 minutes, I did 10 minutes)
I only listened for 10 minutes due to time, and I was already pretty relaxed going in. I feel I can start relaxing pretty much naturally now. I see a transformation from high-stress to medium-stress in my daily life.

2) Relaxation - Legs/Stomache/Chest/Back (5 minutes)
This exercise was powerful, I was tasked with stretching/relaxing my entire lower body. I can now relax my lower body at will, almost numb sensations.

3) Breathwork - Breath Awareness (5 minutes)
I again followed my breathing for 5 minutes, I think this has to do with preparing myself for Task #4 which is powerful.

4) Energy Body Stimulation (5 minutes)
This is where it got pretty intense today. I was tasked with doing an energy body stimulation on the joint that connects my thumb to my hand. There is said to be a 'inner energy' or 'chakra' here. After doing task #4, I completely believe a chakra exists as I could feel it becoming stimulated, and heavy after the exercise. The exercise had me massage my thumb joint with my body awareness, and I was able to get some pretty good tingling even down to the bone.

Tonight I plan on listening to Wave I and possibly Wave II of the Discovery section of "Gateway Experience". I don't want to excel too fast as I want to take advantage of all spiritual experiences without haste.

I feel especially more confident in understanding inner energies and how I can create them and stimulate them.

Day 1 of 90

Yesterday I was tasked with the following:

1) Optional: Listen to Week 1 BrainWave Generator (20minutes)
2) Relaxation: Legs (3 minutes)
3) Breathwork: Breath awareness (5 minutes)
4) Mobile Body Awareness (7 minutes)

After listening to the optional audio with one interruption, I was able to relax my body quite well.

The leg relaxation exercise had me tense up and relax my leg muscles over and over to help them relax better.

The breathwork had me think about breathing and become aware of it

The Mobile Body Awareness was a real powerful exercise. It had me close my eyes and picture certain energies in my inner body, but actually on my body. For example, I saw my knee with my body awareness alone (eyes closed) and was able to create energy by tracing up and down my body. This would help me focus on one part of my body and forget the rest, to build up and create energy. This energy is required and helpful for inducing OOB's and is a good start in the training, at least I hope.

Once nightfall hit, I listened to Wave I - Orientation of the Monroe Institute's Gateway Experience and believe to have hit "Focus 3". "Focus 3" is the state of increased mental coherency and balance. I was able to create vivid visualizations in my mind and actually focus on them quite well. I also found memory to be amplified as i could pull high school memories into my thoughts and via some scenes from high school rather vividly. This actually inspired me and energized me. It was rather difficult to fall asleep after experiencing this. I also seemed to have heightened senses after doing this. I was able to watch some TV without glasses and seemed to have a heightened sense of smell. I considered this day successful, but I have a very long ways to go.

Other things to mention, I dreamed two dreams last night, one kind of bleak, and one very vivid:

Dream 1: I had a dream where I was with my brother Dave and my wife Sara and we went to a 4th of July event. Except it wasn't the 4th of July. Instead of shooting fireworks, people were pulling down stars from the sky to play with. We didn't pull any stars down, but we did bring a football to play catch with. I remember vividly that attendance was taken and we had our hands stamped. I can't believe I didn't become aware within my dream (or maybe I did, but my feedback is poor), because I could remember my hands looking fuzzy from my dream.

Dream 2: This one was very emotional and hard to digest this morning. I had a dream where I was with my wife Sara and we were in a bookstore. A bookstore I have never been to, but is very familiar to me. As I was browsing some books I've never read, but were still familiar, an old high school friend of mine came running over to me. She had her boyfriend nearby which was strange to me for some reason. She crawled on my legs like my daughter does when she wants me to walk her places, and wouldn't let me move. This same person is someone I kind of neglected and abandoned during the latter days of High School and it was hard to come out of this dream without emotion. I think the dream is telling me I need to reunite.

Why am I starting this blog anyway?

Well there are a couple reasons why I am starting a blog. The main reasons are:
1) To keep me actually doing this training and not get side-tracked, or distracted
2) To help others, or entertain others on the subject of "Out of Body Experiences" or Astral Projection.
3) To help document my findings and how well I am trekking along in my Astral Projection Training.

My journal actually started yesterday and I am following a book by Robert Bruce called "Mastering Astral Projection - 90-Day Guide to Out-Of-Body Experience".

I've been intrigued on this for a good week and I have made a few attempts to induce a lucid dream. A lucid dream is where your body is sleeping, but your mind is conscious in your dream and aware that you are in a dream. After attempting lucid dream induction, I have become better at remembering my dreams and tend to remember 1-3 dreams every night.

I am also experimenting with a Monroe Institute product called, "The Gateway Experience". This is an audio technique used to help train my inner-energies and eventually focus enough to induce an out of body experience (called OOBE, or OBE's). I will post daily on my blog at least with what I did for the day to prepare myself, and I'll also include experiences and results that are hopefully measurable.

Lastly, I am also reading this book on the side. "Astral Dynamics" by Robert Bruce. This is a VERY great overview of everything Astral. It talks about many of the dimensions and what their purposes are. If for any interest at all, I would recommend this book.

That's all I have for an introduction.
